The Overdrive licence

Rules of Overdrive Québec’s American Truck Simulator server

On the Overdrive Québec server, every driver holds a 12‑point licence, and each offence stays 7 days on their record. Offences reported by the game take points off your licence. So does speeding measured by the launcher, beyond a +16 km/h tolerance. After 3 hours of real driving, you must stop, engine off, for 15 minutes. At 0 points, the licence is suspended, but the game is never blocked.

Your driving record

How does the points-based licence work?

You start with 12 points. Each offence takes some away and stays 7 days on your record.

A clean week, with no offence, earns you a $2,500 bonus.

And every 5 deliveries without an offence give you back 1 point.

What the game reports

  • Speeding (patrol)
  • Speeding (speed camera)

Your speed is measured by the launcher instead, as the next section explains.

Measured by the launcher

Speed: tolerance and fines

The launcher measures your speed, with a +16 km/h tolerance for 10 seconds. Beyond that, the excess counts as in this table. Fines are paid in community money.

+16 km/h1$150

In real time

Hours of service

After 3 hours of real driving, take a break of 15 minutes with the engine off. The launcher’s dial turns amber 30 minutes before the limit.

Past the limit, every 30 minutes counts as an offence: 1 point and a $500 community fine.

In your habits

Harsh braking

Braking harder than 6.5 m/s² above 30 km/h is noted in your driving habits. It takes no points.

Licence suspended

What happens at 0 points?

Your licence is suspended: a “PERMIS SUSPENDU” (licence suspended) scene plays at launch. The game is never blocked: you can keep driving.

Verified deliveries

Anti-cheat

The server refuses a delivery above $600/km, 6,000 km or $2,000,000 in pay.

What drivers ask

Frequently asked questions

Does a game offence cost me points?

Yes, by the scale: an offence reported by the game can take up to 3 points off your licence, on top of the fine the game already gives. The scale above gives the points of each offence, and each one stays 7 days on your record. Your speeding is measured by the launcher instead, with a +16 km/h tolerance; beyond it, speeding takes points away and costs a fine in community money.

How do I get points back?

By driving clean, without any new offence. Each offence you get stays 7 days on your record. Every 5 deliveries without an offence give you back 1 point. A clean week, with no offence at all, also earns you a $2,500 bonus. The weekly leaderboards also show which drivers keep their licence best, week after week.

Can I play with a suspended licence?

Yes. At 0 points, a “PERMIS SUSPENDU” scene plays at launch, but the game is never blocked: you can keep delivering. To avoid getting there, keep an eye on the scale above, which gives the points of each offence. Your points come back with clean deliveries: every 5 deliveries give you back 1 point. Offences, for their part, stay 7 days on your record.
